The SCX Compact GT set does allow both cars to race on the same lane at the same time. Here is a lay-person's description of how it works: The SCX Compact Lane Changing set is NOT a digital application like our digital system. Rather both cars work off different electrical currents. Car A works off the A Band of electricity on the slot car track and car B works off the B Band of electrical current.
